Are you looking for a lunch option that won’t leave you feeling overly full or regretful? Freestyle Poke, a new poke restaurant just a quick drive from The Highlands North and South, is just the place to visit. They’re serving fresh, light poke bowls that are packed with nutrition and protein for health and enjoyment.
About Freestyle Poke
Freestyle Poke opened its first location in 2017, and this new location in Overland Park is their second. The owners visited more than 27 poke restaurants before opening their own. They sought to glean the best recipe ideas and ways to improve their vibe. Their motto is “Poke with a Purpose.” They aim to nourish their customers and build winning relationships with community members and their employees.
Freestyle Poke also sources their food from fisheries that harvest their fish sustainably. All of their chicken is raised without hormones, steroids, or antibiotics.
The poke bowls at Freestyle Poke come in three sizes: good, better, and best. You can choose one of their signature bowls, like “Ride the Wave” — a creation with salmon, truffle ponzo, avocado, sweet potato, and onion — or create your own bowl.
If you opt to create your own, you start by picking a base. They offer white sushi rice, forbidden rice, quinoa, zucchini noodles, and cauliflower rice. Then, choose your protein from a whole array of options, including raw ahi tuna, spicy albacore tuna, and shrimp. Finally, choose your mix-ins, such as tomato, avocado, snow peas, mung beans, or jalapenos. Finish it all off with a marinade and some toppings, and you’re ready to indulge.
Freestyle Poke offers information about all of their fish on their website, and they even offer a nutrition calculator so you can figure out exactly what is in your custom meal.
