Residing in a city is not the same as living in a city, and in Overland Park Kansas, we want our community to be actively involved in creating their home environment. Lasting friendships, trust, and a sense of community are all cultivated by working and socializing with the people you live near. That’s why Overland Park strives to involve as many community members as possible in volunteer organizations. If you are ready to get involved, check out these volunteer opportunities in Overland Park!
1. Arboretum and Botanical Gardens
Do you love nature, flowers, and beautiful scenery? Then you will love the Arboretum. Volunteers put their green thumbs to good use cultivating the many trees, flowers, and plants that make this garden one of the most beautiful areas in the Kansas City region. If gardening isn’t your thing, no worries! You can still help out at the arboretum by greeting guests and helping in the Environmental Visitors Center!
2. Drop off Recycling Center
If you are passionate about saving the Earth one plastic bottle at a time, then we have good news for you! Our drop off recycling center is 100% volunteer run. The individuals who help package and sort all of the recycling in our beautiful cities are environmentalists to the core, and they would love to have your help! Whether you’ve only got a few hours or entire days, our recycling center welcomes any and all extra hands to make our world a more beautiful place.
3. Recreational Special Events
Do you have a hobby you would love to share with your neighbors? Look no further. Whether you are interested in joining one of our established programs like swimming, book club, or exercise classes, or looking to start one of your own, we want to hear from you! Look out for other special events you can help with like Fire Safety days or Citizen police academy. Not only can you have fun, but help keep your community safe with these volunteer opportunities!
We’d love to have you as a part of our community of volunteers, so if it is time for you to officially join our neighborhood, contact us today to discuss available spaces.Back to all posts
